The T3 is our next-generation rod program, leveraging technology heretofore used only in the aerospace and defense industries. With this technology, we are able to control materials in ways that would have been unthinkable just a few short years ago. T3 Features

  • New compound taper formulas for every T3 rod take full advantage of cutting-edge high-modulus carbon fiber technologies.

  • Innovative reel seats with single-piece uplocking hardware. End caps rotate to quickly and securely lock the reel in place. Saltwater butt can be removed for cleaning.

  • Elegant, functional reel seat components on the freshwater reel seat feature nickel silver hardware and stabilized Amboina wood insert. Corrosion-proof saltwater reel seat features light, strong 6061 anodized aluminum hardware that is Teflon® coated for extra protection.

  • Highest quality, extra-flora grade cork grips are a redesigned ergonomic shape to reduce casting fatigue.

 

Performance in Every Fiber
What separates the T3 from all other rods is the way in which Orvis employs thermoplastic-enriched thermoset resins in the graphite matrix. At the end of a process that employs extreme heat and pressure, each graphite fiber is wrapped in a protective, strengthening sheath (A). The result is a fiber that is more impact resistant, tougher, and stronger than any other graphite fiber/resin combination.

This allows Orvis to use a higher-performance high-modulus graphite that offers more stiffness with less weight (B). Nick your rod with a weighted conehead streamer on the backcast and you’ll understand why toughness matters. The use of high-modulus materials gives the power-generating butt section of every T3 incredible strength, adding fish-fighting muscle, increasing casting range, and maximizing wind-cutting power. The result is a powerful rod with the sensitivity to enhance line control and accuracy.
